The live debt of the Provincial Council of Alava corresponding to 2003, amounts to 6.01 million euros.

This consists of a credit granted in 1985 by the European Investment Bank, which expires in 2005, the issuing of five-year Provincial Bonds on October 2001 and the ten-year loan from the Caja Vital Kutxa savings bank on December 31 2002 for 18 million euros, which was extended by an additional 80 million euros on December 31 2003.
